November 21, 2019
With the FALL season in full swing and the Holidays right around the corner, we start thinking about entertaining family and friends and decorating the inside and outside of our home. Fall Mums and pumpkins and Christmas lights and trees all make a home feel warm and welcoming. If you don't have a front porch or large entryway and have been thinking about making this change to your home, then what better time than now to follow through with it. Creating an inviting entryway or porch are can change the entire look of your home!
There are so many different options when it comes to porch design and entryways that the possibilities are endless.
Requests that we get are for large covered porches with ceiling fans and room for plenty of seating, enclosed porches with screens or large windows, or smaller entryways with just enough space for a chair and flower pot.
Whatever style it is that you are looking for, there are many options to choose from. We suggest looking at pictures online; Pinterest, Houzz, or PDRdesigns website. PDRdesigns has its own Pinterest Page on Enclosed Porches so check it out here: https://www.pinterest.com/paulrugarber/enclosed-porches/
When you are ready to take the next step and have an idea of the look you want, the critical item you will need to know before moving forward to construction is if the expansion is allowed.
- Know your site constraints (your survey will show you this) so that you know exactly how much of an addition you can add.
- You may need to get a variance depending on the size you are looking to have (you should check with your local zoning department)
Whatever your reason is for wanting one, a porch can add value to your home in many ways and you and your guests will enjoy walking up to your new welcoming entryway.
We at PDRdesigns are committed to treating everyone with respect and honesty. We would be honored to help you design your dream space. Please contact us with any questions you may have or to schedule a meeting to go over your next home project!
